Event Setups

Rehearsal Dinner: Friday, June 6th

I was involved in the set-up of a rehearsal dinner held at a downtown Dallas hotel, with both a ballroom and an attached terrace. In the days leading up to the event, I was responsible for organizing the serpentine table layout and building a detailed seating chart map in Aisle Planner to ensure the flow of the evening felt seamless. I also created custom name place cards by hand, each paired with a stamped leather strip to tie into the event’s elevated design aesthetic. On the day of the rehearsal dinner, I helped direct rental vendors, making sure all tables, chairs, and décor were placed exactly according to the plan. Once the space was ready for final touches, I assisted in laying linens, setting floral arrangements and candles, and placing each name card at its designated seat. I stayed on-site after regular internship hours, working until around 8 p.m. to guarantee that every last detail was complete before guests arrived. This project gave me a full view of the behind-the-scenes logistics that go into transforming a space and taught me how to balance client vision with vendor coordination, creative styling, and time-sensitive execution.

Baby Shower: Saturday, June 7th

I was involved in the set-up of a Lord of the Rings–themed baby shower held at a private home in Highland Park. The day before, I assisted the florist by stripping and organizing florals so they would be ready for design work the following morning. On the day of the event, I arrived at 7 a.m. alongside two House of CLRK team members and the florist to begin transforming the space before guests arrived. My role included helping determine the best placement for décor elements, spreading real moss throughout key areas, and setting up the large main sitting area designed to resemble a hobbit house. I also contributed the handcrafted moss mushrooms and the wishing tree with individual wish cards, both of which added an interactive, storybook element to the event. Working closely with the small setup team gave me hands-on experience in both design execution and collaboration, while also teaching me how to balance creative vision with practical placement and flow on the day of the event.

Celebration of Life: Wednesday, July 16th

I was involved in the celebration of life for the young girl who tragically lost her life in the Camp Mystic floods, a high-stakes event that came together within just one week. The quick turnaround required long nights after regular internship hours, including late trips back and forth to the printer—20 minutes away—as programs were printed in packs of 20. Each program included four different pages, and we stayed up hand-tying them together, finishing the last 100 at 7 a.m. on the morning of the service at the church. Once the programs were delivered, I transitioned into helping with the celebration of life reception at Highland Park Country Club. My role included assisting with set-up and making several trips around town to pick up last-minute floral orders and paint. It was a true collaboration between all the companies involved, working under pressure to ensure everything was flawless for the family. The ballroom itself was completely transformed, turfed wall-to-wall and styled to feel like a luxury birthday party—bright, playful, and filled with thoughtful details that reflected the girl’s sweet and fun spirit. While I refrained from taking many photos out of respect, I will always remember how the design honored her life in a way that was exactly what the family envisioned.
